Story

Fat Cat began in 2020, when (from left to right in the picture) Thomas, Simon, Augustin, and Antoine started writing music together in a cellar in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. From those underground sessions came two EPs, “Decibels Please” (2021) and “Aliveness” (2023), which helped them carve out a place on the local scene and connect with their core audience. In 2024, the band made a clear choice: to see how far the project could go with their full focus. They stepped away from the spotlight and spent the year immersed in writing, pushing their sound further.

In 2025, Fat Cat returned with a fresh momentum, launching the "Year of the Cat" with a sold-out show at Le Senghor in February. Now, with an ALBUM out since February 2026 and the release of video clips, they’re keeping the pace of this new chapter.

Music Genre

Fat Cat blends pop rock and alt-rock with a clear purpose: to create music that’s both powerful and emotionally honest. Each track captures a moment, whether it’s a feeling or a person, told with sharp perspective and bold sound.  Originally shaped by hard-rock influences, the band has shifted over time toward more melodic, lyric-driven songwriting, drawing inspiration from Britpop and the Belgian scene. The result is a sound that balances grit and clarity, weight and melody. Think of the energy of The Killers and Arctic Monkeys, the melodies of Wallows and Franz Ferdinand, and the DNA of Belgian bands like Girls in Hawaii, Puggy and Ghinzu. On stage, the strong connection between Antoine, Thomas, Simon, and Augustin fuels a high-voltage energy. At a Fat Cat show, you're all in, you move, you shout, you feel it. No filters. Just sound, sweat, and truth.

ETHICS

FAT CAT is built on a set of values, two of which are at the heart of the project. First, music is for everyone. The band does not tolerate any form of discrimination at its shows or within its community, in any shape or form. Second, FAT CAT believes in the human connection that music creates, between artists and their audience, and between the artists themselves. For that reason, the band chooses not to use AI in any part of its creative process.
